How does wheel lift towing work around Gilmore Place?
Gilmore Place is Onni Group's 12-acre block at 4180-4190 Lougheed Hwy and 2108-2186 Gilmore Ave. Phase 1 has towers of 64, 51 and 43 storeys, and Two Gilmore Place, at 216 m, is the tallest tower in Metro Vancouver. Onni's 2018 plan called for about 1,800 parking spaces in Phase 1 and pedestrian-only streets through the site. So no tow truck drives up to a lobby. We work from the garage exits and the edge streets, and a short wheel lift truck is the easiest to place there. It is part of our wheel lift towing in Brentwood work.
Gilmore station sits at 2199 Gilmore Ave, with its only entrance at the northeast corner of Gilmore and Dawson, and buses 28, 129 and N9 stop there. A car that dies at that corner gets in the way of people walking to the train. A wheel lift clears it quickly and leaves the bus stop free. For a dead battery or a flat, roadside assistance at Gilmore Place may get you going without a tow.
Construction is still part of daily life here. RENX reported that Phase 2, with three more towers and a commercial podium, was still to be built as of July 2024, and the retail podium is anchored by a 55,000 sq ft T&T Supermarket. Expect site fencing and lane changes. We check access on the day and tell you where to meet. Cars that need a deck go on a Gilmore Place flatbed.
Gilmore Place wheel lift pickup spots
These are the places we usually meet a car at Gilmore Place.
Tower garage exits
Residents park below the towers. Push the car to the exit if it rolls, or meet us there with a fob.
Gilmore Ave curb
Short stops near the station entrance. A wheel lift hooks and leaves before the curb backs up.
Retail parking
Shoppers at the T&T and the other podium stores. Give us the level and the nearest store entrance.
Dawson St side
The south edge by the station. Light industry toward Boundary Rd and Still Creek means trucks share this road with you.
Across Lougheed
Buchanan West sits directly north across the highway. See wheel lift towing in Buchanan West.
Phase 2 site edges
Three more towers and a podium were still to come as of July 2024, so fencing can move. Tell us what you see around you and we will find the open way in.
Gilmore Place: when a wheel lift works and when it does not
Gilmore Place garages fill with new cars, and new cars are often AWD or electric. Here is how we split them.
Wheel lift works
- Front-wheel-drive commuter cars
- Rear-wheel-drive cars lifted from the rear
- A car stalled at a garage exit gate
- Short tows to a shop along Lougheed
Dollies or a flatbed
- AWD SUVs and crossovers
- EVs, since most makers say not to tow them with the drive wheels down
- Cars with the steering locked and no keys
- Cars parked nose-in with front-wheel drive, where dollies carry the front
- Box vans unloading at the podium, which need heavy duty towing at Gilmore Place
Wheel lift towing at Gilmore Place: your questions
Can you drive into the site to reach my car?
Not on the pedestrian-only streets. We use the garage exits and edge streets such as Gilmore Ave and Lougheed Hwy.
Can you pick up near the Gilmore station entrance?
Yes, at a legal spot near Gilmore Ave and Dawson St. We keep the bus stop and the station entrance clear while we lift.
Is a wheel lift OK for my new crossover?
If it is AWD, we add dollies under the free axle or switch to a flatbed. We confirm it from the make and model.
Can you tow from the T&T parking?
Yes. Tell us the level and the nearest entrance, and we meet you there.
What should I have ready?
Keys, the level and stall, the posted clearance and a way to let us in. Our parkade towing post has a full checklist.
Can it go to a shop nearby?
Yes. Short local trips are common, and light duty towing at Gilmore Place covers longer ones.
