What does heavy duty towing in SOLO District look like?
SOLO District takes its name from South of Lougheed. Appia Developments built four towers on 6.65 acres at Willingdon Ave and Lougheed Hwy: Stratus, Altus, Cirrus and Aerius. Altus, at 4485 Skyline Drive, has office floors below its residences, and Daily Hive called it Burnaby's tallest building when work began. Homes, offices and a Whole Foods Market on one block mean a steady line of trucks, and some of them break down. That is where our Brentwood heavy duty towing comes in.
Most parking here is secured and underground. The plan for the four towers counted 1,968 resident, 445 retail and 530 office stalls, according to the Altus building profile. Entrance locations and clearances are not published, so a heavy wrecker stays at street level on Skyline Drive, Rosser Ave or Willingdon Ave. A car that won't start on a parking level is a job for flatbed towing in SOLO District or a wheel lift instead.
We are local, open 24 hours, and we confirm the price before any hookup. If you are not sure the truck needs a heavy tow, send us the details and we will tell you what fits.
SOLO District heavy duty towing at a glance
- Heavy calls here are grocery and retail delivery trucks, moving trucks and larger courier vans.
- We hook up at street level on Skyline Drive, Rosser Ave or Willingdon Ave, not inside the secured parkades.
- Highway 1 is a few blocks away, so tows heading out of Burnaby reach the freeway on a short route.
- Trucks over 11,800 kg must take the shortest way to the nearest Burnaby truck route, and we plan for that.
- The old sales centre address, 2131 Willingdon Ave, one block south of Lougheed, is a useful reference point.
- The price is set before the hookup, at any hour.
Which vehicles need heavy duty towing around SOLO District?
The building mix decides the trucks. Here is what we plan for at SOLO District.
Grocery and retail trucks
Burnaby's first Whole Foods Market and more than 100,000 sq ft of other retail draw delivery trucks to the block.
Moving trucks
Four towers and well over a thousand homes mean move-in and move-out days all year. A loaded moving truck is a heavy tow.
Office deliveries
Altus has office space below the homes, so office suppliers and couriers visit the building with larger trucks.
Building maintenance trucks
Trucks serving the car-wash bays, EV charging stations and building systems, some larger than a standard service van.
Car-share and service vehicles
Three Modo cars and building service vans share the parking. Only the larger vans are heavy work; lighter ones go to light duty towing in SOLO District.
SOLO District heavy duty towing FAQ
Can a heavy tow truck drive into the SOLO District parkade?
We don't send one in. The clearance isn't published, and heavy wreckers are tall. If a van is stuck below, we look at wheel lift towing in SOLO District to get it to the street.
Where should I wait for the truck?
At the street edge closest to the vehicle: Skyline Drive, Rosser Ave near 2008 Rosser, or Willingdon Ave.
Can you tow during the afternoon rush on Willingdon?
If the tow is oversize, no. Oversize trucks can't move in Burnaby from 3 to 6 pm on weekdays, or from 7 to 9 am. We will book the move just outside those hours.
Can you tow from the Whole Foods side of the block?
Yes. Tell us the store and the nearest street so we can find the truck. Grocery trucks are often refrigerated and loaded, so we also ask how full it is.
My truck just has a flat. Do I still need a tow?
Maybe not. Try roadside assistance in SOLO District first.
Heavy duty towing in SOLO District: tow it or fix it there?
Not every stalled truck at SOLO District needs a wrecker. Here is how we decide.
A heavy tow makes sense when
- The engine, transmission or brakes have failed
- The truck is loaded and can't roll safely
- It is blocking Skyline Drive or a lane on Willingdon Ave
- The repair shop is outside Brentwood
A roadside fix may do when
- The battery went flat during a long unload
- One tire is down and the spare is usable
- The truck ran out of fuel near Lougheed Hwy
- You can safely wait at the curb while we work
