What heavy duty towing is needed in Buchanan West today?
Buchanan West is the stretch on the north side of Lougheed Hwy between Gilmore Ave and Madison Ave, right above Gilmore station. Today it is big-box stores, restaurants and a hotel: White Spot, Fitness Town, Club16, Cactus Club Cafe, Sleep Country, Staples and the Executive Suites Hotel and Conference Centre, as Daily Hive lists. Those businesses take mattress and furniture trucks, office supply trucks, restaurant suppliers and coaches. Any of them can need our heavy duty towing in Brentwood.
The good news for a heavy tow is space. The big-box and hotel parking lots front Lougheed, and a surface lot gives a wrecker room to line up that a tower parkade never does. If a coach or semi stalls in a lot, we ask the business to keep shoppers clear of the space around it while we set up. The harder part is getting back onto Lougheed Hwy in traffic, and planning a route that keeps a heavy load on Burnaby's truck routes. Across the highway, Gilmore Place has the opposite problem: tight edges and lots of construction.
This area is also going to change. The City's conceptual master plan covers the land from Lougheed up to Halifax St, and the plan allows up to 12 towers and about 6,000 homes. The first phase proposed at 4141 Lougheed Hwy, at the northeast corner of Lougheed and Gilmore, would replace a 1959 warehouse with two towers and a 280-room hotel. When that work starts, construction trucks will join the delivery traffic. For cars and small vans here, see flatbed towing in Buchanan West.

Buchanan West heavy duty towing: what to remember
- Buchanan West runs along the north side of Lougheed between Gilmore and Madison avenues.
- Its surface lots make heavy hookups easier than in tower parkades.
- Up to 12 towers are planned, so construction trucks will add to the mix.
- Willingdon Community Centre at 1491 Carleton Ave is a handy landmark, and Carleton Ave is planned to extend north through the site.
- The CN Thornton Tunnel runs under the east end, where Staples is, so that end will be built around it.
- For a small vehicle in the same lot, light duty towing in Buchanan West fits better.
