Best Towing Companies in Brentwood, Burnaby: What to Check Before You Call

Eight things that separate a good towing company from a stressful one, and the questions to ask on the phone.

By Rescue Towing Brentwood Burnaby BC · October 30, 2026 · 4 min read

Search for the best towing company in Brentwood, Burnaby and you will get a long list of names, ads and star ratings. Most of them look the same on a phone screen. The trouble is that you usually need a tow at the worst possible moment, with no time to research. So instead of a ranking, here is a simple checklist. It works for any company, including ours, and it takes about two minutes on the phone.

1. They give you the price before they hook up

This is the big one. A good company asks where you are, what the vehicle is and where it is going, then gives you a total. If you hear "we will see when we get there", be careful. Our Brentwood tow cost guide explains what a fair price is made of, and B.C. even publishes impound tow rates in the Lien on Impounded Motor Vehicles Regulation that you can use as a rough benchmark.

2. They send the right truck

AWD cars, EVs and damaged vehicles belong on a flatbed. A company that sends a wheel lift for an all-wheel drive SUV can cause real damage. Ask what truck is coming. Our flatbed towing and EV towing pages explain when each one is used.

3. They know Brentwood parkades

Brentwood is full of towers, and many breakdowns happen underground. Ask if they do low-clearance pulls and whether they bring dollies. If they hesitate, you should definately keep looking. We wrote a whole guide on how underground parkade tows work because it comes up so often here.

4. They are actually local

A company based across the region might take the call and then send someone from far away. Ask where the truck is coming from. Local drivers know that Lougheed jams up near the shopping centres, which entrance to use at each tower and how to get onto Highway 1 at the Willingdon exit. You can read why we focus on Brentwood.

5. They are honest about timing

Be wary of anyone who promises an exact arrival time before they know where you are. A good company gives you a realistic estimate and calls if it changes. Our post on how long a tow takes in Brentwood explains what really drives the wait.

6. They handle crash tows properly

After an accident, the tow is part of a claim. The company should take the car where your claim needs it to go and not to a yard that charges storage while you sort things out. Start your claim with ICBC claims, and see our ICBC towing page for how we handle it.

7. They offer more than towing

Sometimes you do not need a tow at all. A company that also does battery boosts, lockouts and tire changes can save you money when the fix is simple. Our roadside assistance page lists them all, and we also do scrap car removal when a car has reached the end of the road.

8. They pick up the phone at 2 am

Breakdowns do not keep office hours. Check that the company is open 24 hours and that a person answers, not a voicemail box. You can test it easily: call before you need them and see who answers.

Red flags to watch for

  • A truck that shows up at a crash scene before anyone called for one.
  • Pressure to sign a form before you know the price.
  • A refusal to say where your car is being taken.
  • A price that suddenly grows once your car is already hooked up.

If any of these happen, you have every right to say no and call someone else. Your car, your choice. A good company is happy to answer questions, because it has nothing to hide, and it will put the price in writing if you ask.

Online reviews help too, but read the recent ones and look for mentions of pricing, the right truck and how the driver treated the car.

Questions to ask on the phone

  1. What is the total price, including any extras?
  2. What kind of truck are you sending?
  3. Can you handle an underground garage with a low ceiling?
  4. Where is the truck coming from?
  5. Where will my car go, and is there any storage charge?

Why Brentwood drivers call Rescue Towing

We built Rescue Towing around this checklist. The price comes first, we send the right truck for the job, and we work one neighbourhood so we know its streets and garages. Whether it is car towing from a Brentwood Park driveway or a pull from a tower at Gilmore Place, the process is the same.

If you are reading this while stuck at the curb, read what to do before the tow truck arrives first, then give us a call. We will tell you the price and the plan before anything happens. It realy is that simple.
